Five candidates are competing to become the supervisor for District 1 in Pima County after current supervisor Ann Day steps down later this year.

Pinal County, a Democratic county encumbered with a history of corruption, has been viewed by many as primarily a rural void between Maricopa and Pima counties.  

District 26 Rep. Vic Williams has formed an exploratory committee to possibly run for District 1 of the Pima County Board of Supervisors.

After nearly four years, Pima County has spent almost half the $164 million voters approved in 2004 to buy environmentally sensitive land, including some tracts in the Northwest.

Widows, widowers and individuals with disabilities who meet certain income thresholds may qualify for a property tax exemption on their primary residence within Pima County.
