    The Southern Arizona Buffelgrass Coordination Center (SABCC) hosted a bus tour of Tucson International Airport property on Friday, Nov. 30, where buffelgrass will be removed using a $2.5 million federal grant awarded to Pima County and the airport. Pima County contributed $145,500 in matching funds, with TIA contributing a $706,000 match. The grant is part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s pre-disaster mitigation program.

    On Monday, at 4:11 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call reference a male who had reportedly jumped off a cliff and possibly suffered broken bones. Initially, it was unclear if the incident had occurred at Seven Falls in the Sabino Canyon area or at Tanque Verde Falls off of Redington Road. Deputies of the Pima County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Unit were dispatched to both locations.

    Maranans escaped the summer heat last Thursday with a refreshing trip to the Wade McLean–Marana High School Pool, 12000 W. Emigh. Located just next to Marana High School, the pool features eight lap lanes, a slide, a deep end, zero-depth entry, a tumble bucket water feature, and lots of grass. It is home to the 2005 Pima County Natural Resources Parks and Recreation championship Wade McLean Tiger Sharks swim team.
