Four of the five Northwest Tucson high schools found victories on Friday night, the biggest margin of victory going to Ironwood Ridge, who defeated Flowing Wells 62-0. 

The high school football season was in full swing for its third week of action with dominating performances by the Mountain View Mountain Lions and the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks. Meanwhile, the rest of the pack is still finding their stride as they look to improve for their fourth game of the season.

When it comes to a new football season, the very first goal on a team's radar is to get those first points up on the scoreboard. This was a task that the Pusch Ridge Lions failed to accomplish in their opening game to the 2012 high school football season against Joy Christian, a game they lost 36-0.

The high school football season is under way and we already have our standout team, while other teams are still shaking off the cobwebs. For many teams it was evident that it was their first game of their season. From bad passes to penalties, many teams struggled throughout the game. However, the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks hit the ground running in their 36-0 route of CDO.

Anticipation for a new and improved season arose when the Pusch Ridge Lions hired Troy Cropp, as the new head varsity football coach.

A new level of motivation has arisen for the Pusch Ridge Lions football team under new Head Coach Troy Cropp, who has started a more organized and efficient training program.

Starting Friday night, the 2012 high school football season will officially begin with some big matches for local teams. Ironwood Ridge will look to build on last season, Canyon Del Oro will look to carry a late-season run forward, and Marana, Mountain View and Pusch Ridge will look for a more positive outcome.
