Hannah List is going to be a seventh grade student at Tortolita Middle School in the fall. She attended Quail Run Elementary throughout her elementary years where she was a role model to all and a true leader among her peers. While at Quail Run, Hannah was awarded the Kind Kid Award after being nominated by her fellow students. She worked as a teaching assistant for special needs students and worked with the English Language Learns program to create instruction movies which will be used as teaching aids for future students. Hannah’s gifted education (GEM) group placed 2nd in the city-wide Kidstruction contest this school year. She also received a 3rd place ribbon at the Southern Arizona Regional Science & Engineering Fair. As part of a GEM service learning project Hannah donated her hair to Pantene Beautiful Lengths.

Estes Elementary School, in the Marana Unified School District, has earned the 2014 A+ School of Excellence award presented by the Arizona Educational Foundation.

Delta Kappa Gamma is an international organization of women educators whose purpose is to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. Aligned with that purpose, Delta Kappa Gamma/Alpha Chapter will host their first annual “Early Career Educator” appreciation and recognition brunch recognizing 16 outstanding early career educators from the Marana Unified School District. The brunch will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.

As Quail Run Elementary School continues its Fitness for Life
program, actors from the Phoenix Theater came to perform a play to
the fourth and fifth graders about making good decisions.
Phoenix Theater actors Raven Woessner and Isaac Wilson perform a

dangers of smoking. In addition to smoking, the group focused on
the importance of eating healthy and staying active.

Marana Unified School District has begun tapping $43 million in
bond funds for capital projects authorized by voters last November
to improve school and athletic facilities, recondition parking lots
and purchase a fleet of new buses.

Employees from The Hershey Company, IBM and Sargent Controls and
Aerospace took part in the United Way Days of Caring program last
week at Quail Run Elementary School. While at the school, the
companies helped create seven garden beds, painted the crosswalks
and other parking lot markings, installed a fence, and cleared
overgrowth. Northwest Landscaping donated the soil for the garden
beds. This was the fourth year Sargent Controls and Aerospace has
participated in the program.
