Northwest Fire District firefighters responded to 2002 W. Gardner Lane at 0100 after 9-1-1 calls were received reporting a mobile home on fire. Deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department on patrol in the area arrived just before fire crews and attempted to make entry into the mobile home to check for the victim, but were driven back by the heavy smoke and fire.

Northwest Fire District crews were called to Interstate 10 at the Ruthrauff overpass just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday night, after a passer-by noticed a vehicle off the roadway and damage to some of the guardrail in the area.

Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law HB 2204, legislation that extends health insurance to the widowed spouses and dependents of Arizona peace officers, correctional officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. The measure includes an emergency clause, so it takes effect immediately.

Northwest Fire District firefighters were dispatched to the area of Sweetwater Dr. and Camino De Oeste, in the Tucson Mountains after receiving a 9-1-1 call for woman who had fallen from a horse. The call came in at 1349 hours.

On September 6, at 10:45 p.m., deputies with the Pima County Sheriff’s Department San Xavier District responded to a swift water rescue in the 1600 block of South Sandario Road. According to the 911 call, the reportee stated she was stuck in the wash with her Buick sedan. With her in the vehicle was her one-month-old baby.

On Friday at 4:30 a.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a 9-1-1 call from a male individual who reported he was stuck in a wash with his vehicle but got out safely. The incident location was reported to be at Sandario Road and Manville Road. However, it was later determined to be closer to the intersection of Manville Road and Avra Road. The caller said he heard a male yelling for help and advising that his legs were broken. The caller could not see the other male, but only heard him.

Last week, crews from the Northwest Fire District’s Technical Rescue Team participated in a rescue drill off the Cortaro Bridge.

At approximately 1:44 p.m., the Northwest Fire District and Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to a multiple 911 calls regarding a vehicle colliding into a home near La Cholla Boulevard and Ruthrauff Road.

Sunday night’s monsoon storm kept police and fire officials busy with rescues, including one that involved a 93-year old woman.

On Saturday morning around 9:10 a.m., the Golder Ranch Fire District Units responded to Catalina State Park to assist with an injured hiker at Romero Pools.

The Northwest Fire/Rescue District has been recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services as a Premier Emergency Medical System Agency. The designation is a result of the District’s outstanding performance in four key areas, including documenting agency leadership commitment, developing a quality assurance (QI) program, ensuring that data are fed back into the QI program to inform the analysis and improvement of patient care and collecting and submitting electronic patient care records (ePCR) as a participant in the AZ-PIERS program. In addition, the District has made major strides in instituting a more efficient medication replacement program, Evidence-Based Medical Operations, Minimally Interrupted Cardio Resucitation (MICR) and EMS Equipment Standardization.

Signs of damage and flooding caused by Sunday night’s monsoon rains could be seen all over the Tucson region Monday morning.

Northwest Firefighters responded to a fire this morning that left two occupants unharmed, but homeless and their family cat is unaccounted for and presumed dead.

On July 4, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about a female teenager, who reportedly was on a horse and stuck in the Blanco Wash. Deputies of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department Tucson Mountain District responded to the incident location near Lambert Lane and Derringer Road. They were supported by deputies of the Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Unit and the Avra Valley Fire Department.
