(BPT) - Snow, ice, slush and other winter driving challenges can threaten both driver and passenger safety, and adding distractions into the mix only exacerbates the situation. So instead of dashing through the snow in your four-wheeled “sleigh” and ending up o’er the hills, it may be best to simply drive with caution and focus, to stay on the road this winter.

(BPT) - Family gatherings often involve everyone sitting around, catching up while children play. It’s a wonderful time for family to hear the latest on jobs, trips, hobbies and health, but it can also turn into a tedious repeat of listening to Uncle Joe’s story of the winter of 1954 when the snow was up to the second story windows of the house and children had to walk several miles to get to school.

When the final school bell rings for summer break this year, many children will plan to come home and spend their three-month vacation in front of the television. The Pima County Economic Development and Tourism Department has decided not to approve the one proposal for a Northwest ice rink and sports facility.

Pima County Economic Development and Tourism received documents last week from parties interested in building and running an indoor skating rink, director Tom Moulton said Monday.

Proposals to build a public ice rink near Ina Road and Interstate 10 in Marana are being sought by the Pima County Economic Development and Tourism Department, which expects proposals by Oct. 22.

Thinking caps are recommended Wednesday night, when the Oro Valley Town Council, staff and others talk about what to do next with the Naranja Town Site.
