The Mountain Vista Fire District is on its way to becoming a completely independent fire department with its recent decision to pursue hiring its own emergency services personnel — firefighters, paramedics, emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and fire officers.

Annexations by Northwest area fire districts are blooming this spring as quickly as desert flowers. The Northwest Fire District has four annexations in progress, Mountain Vista Fire District has one, and Golder Ranch Fire District has the largest annexation of them all.

At 5:50 p.m. Thursday night, Pima County Sheriff's deputies from
the Rincon District and Search & Rescue deputies responded to
Sabino Canyon for a male subject in distress. Hikers near the Bluff
Trail in lower Sabino Canyon found Michael Rydicki (DOB 08/01/59)
laying on the trail in obvious distress.

acquired by Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm, in an all-cash
transaction estimated at $438 million.
Mountain Vista Fire District held a ceremonial groundbreaking Feb. 10 for its second fire station at the facility site, 1175 W. Magee Road. On hand were, from left. MVFD Administrative Chief Scott Butler, Rural/Metro Fire Chief Tom Brandhuber, MVFD Board of Directors members Earle Ruhnke and Jerry Phillips, Paul Mickelberg of WSM Architects, William Lloyd of Lloyd Construction, and project superintendent Peter Robertson of Lloyd Construction. Work should be completed by November.

talked to the press Saturday, but residents shouldn’t expect to
hear more of their experiences too often. Like GIs home from war,
the first responders find it easier to discuss the bloody scene
