The Pima Community College baseball team (22-26-1, 12-20 in conference) dropped two tough games to Yavapai College on Thursday at the West Campus.

To say the Dorados’ bats were hot would be an understatement. The current D-2 state softball titleholder, Canyon Del Oro looked playoff ready as the team knocked in 23 runs en route to a 23-11 victory over the Mountain View Mountain Lions last Thursday.

(BPT) - Upwards of 100 million viewers will tune in to watch a professional sporting event this winter and spring season. As the fans wait for those historic moments of triumph and dramatic play-by-play recaps, they also partake in a celebration of food and feasting at halftime, and throughout the game.

The sophomore appropriately dubbed "Air Zona" saved Christmas and an unbeaten record for third-ranked Arizona on Tuesday night.

There is the Dec. 15 Gildan New Mexico Bowl, college football's kickoff to the bowl season between Arizona and Nevada. But there also is the matchup that overshadows them all: Ka'Deem Carey versus Stefphon Jefferson.

Tears rolled down the faces of the Mountain View football players on Friday night, but the Mountain Lions have every reason to hold their heads high. Under the helm of first-year coach Clarence McRae, the team’s success this year has put the school’s football program back on the map.

Arizona quarterback Matt Scott was a force to be reckoned with on Saturday afternoon at Wildcats’ stadium.

Competing with Salpointe Catholic would be a tall order for most teams. Considered by many to be the top team in Southern Arizona, the Lancers had no problem defeating the Canyon del Oro Dorados, 38-7, last Friday.

After starting the season strong under new head coach Rich Rodriguez, the Arizona Wildcats have struglgled in Pac 12 play over the last two weeks, as No. 18 Oregon State held on in the fourth for the 38-35 victory.

The Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks’ football team was already in a very good position heading into last Friday night’s match up against the Cholla Chargers. The team had won its first three contests by a combined 109 points, while Cholla had struggled to an 0-3 record and combined deficit of 77 points. The Nighthawks stepped it up a notch on Friday though, completely overpowering the Chargers en route to a 62-6 shellacking.

The Canyon Del Oro football team has found themselves in a very unusual position. After a 22-7 loss to Cesar Chavez on their home field Friday night, the Dorados have dropped to 0-3 on the season.

Men's Soccer

When it comes to a new football season, the very first goal on a team's radar is to get those first points up on the scoreboard. This was a task that the Pusch Ridge Lions failed to accomplish in their opening game to the 2012 high school football season against Joy Christian, a game they lost 36-0.

Boys Baseball:  

The blue and white paint covering the faces of the Ironwood Ridge football fans didn’t go to waste.

After the first quarter of Friday’s opening night football matchup between longtime rivals Mountain View and Marana, it appeared it would be a battle between defenses.

Following a unanimous vote by the Oro Valley Town Council on June 20 to approve an additional $1.55 million for expansion of the Town’s Aquatic Center, construction is on schedule.

The Mountain View softball team might as well have been swinging at a basketball the way their bats connected against the Rincon Rangers on April 25.  The team pulled away early, and in a game with no errors, never looked back in the 23-0 victory.
