A good-sized crowd braved the sun and heat on March 31 to support the athletes participating in the Coronado Area Track & Field competition held at Amphi High School. More than 480 Special Olympics athletes from Tucson and southern Arizona representing 20 area delegations came out to compete in the event.

Chairperson of the Catalina Community Special Olympics Fundraising Committee, Lisa Marie Chavez says the committee has been consistently raising money to support Special Olympics Arizona beginning at the Lariat when they raised $500. This year, the goal is $30,000.
