February 7 - The Wrecking Crew

The Oro Valley council voted 6-1 on Wednesday night to fund $2.1 million in contingency reserve funds to underground utility lines along Oracle and Tangerine roads in a three-project proposal brought forth by Tucson Electric Power several months ago.

The Arizona Distance Classic, planned in Oro Valley this March, is aiming to do more than just get people fit. With the announcement of a new partnership, the Arizona Distance Classic has teamed up with a local elementary school to raise funds for the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation.

Pima County is making bold strides toward building a more robust local economy, evident with the recent release of its new Economic Development Plan. 

After nearly five hours of discussion relating to a zoning amendment of the 110-acre Desert Springs parcel, council had limited time and public input at the Dec. 5 meeting to consider another important issue: the potential authorization of $2.1 million in contingency reserves to fund the underground installation of Tucson Electric Power utility lines.

Business seems to be improving and sprouting in new forms in Marana, from restaurants to health care facilities, and food markets to personal services providers, according to the Marana Chamber of Commerce.

Marana is a community that successfully incorporates tradition with progress. Cotton fields are planted near high-tech businesses. Cowboys eat lunch with business professionals. Planning for Friday night rodeos can feel a lot like sitting in a Monday morning board meeting.
