• Renewable energy cannot be the total solution at this point, but we need to pursue its development so we can wean ourselves off of fossil fuel. This is the way ahead, not sure why Senator Melvin wants to stay in the past.

• OMG!!! Senator Melvin is a broken record. What he said in this article about education, but it it not the whole truth. FACT #1 - from 2008 to 2012, the AZ legislature cut per pupil funding more than any other state in the nation - 21.8% FACT #2 - Yes, AZ has more charter schools and school choice than any other state, but we are ranked #46 in education performance. So, what's your his??? FACT #3 - Public education funding is being diverted away from traditional public schools to charters, private schools and other venues and since 88% of our AZ students attend traditional public schools, they are the ones who are suffering. FACT #4 - There is no standard required of homeschoolers in Arizona. So, how can Senator Melvin say we have a "great home school" program? By who's standards? In fact, the state Department of Education is prohibited from regulating home schoolers and no standardized testing is required. Senator Melvin's schtick works when people don't bother to check out the whole story. I'm watching and I hope you'll join me!

• The answer is often simple...but not always easy. In this case, it takes recognition that the problems are multi-faceted, will take great political will and long-term attention to correct, and recognition that there aren't any quick fixes.

• Okay, I can tell a Melvin leech when I see one. Of course Tucson has problems but they are hardly the fault of Mayor Rothschild who has only been in office about a year. He inherited a mess from his REPUBLICAN predecessor. Also not sure what "inability to read state budget" "Scooper" is referring to. Jo Holt, unlike Senator Melvin does understand budgeting and the $3 Billion that our state legislature has cut from public education since 2008 - the largest cut in the nation in per pupil spending. Jo also has made up her mind on Prop 204. She supports it, even though she doesn't consider it ideal because it is a regressive tax. As she has stated, it is a desperate measure in desperate times -- with a state legislature that is obviously focused on "starving" traditional public education. This attack on Jo is just evidence that her opponent is worried because he knows Jo has what it takes to put THE PEOPLE back in charge in Phoenix!
