Here is the latest SaddleBrooke Rotary Club round-up of our activities.
On Sept. 1, SaddleBrooke Rotary members showed their appreciation for guest speaker Greg Byrne, the director of athletics for the University of Arizona, at their luncheon with a tremendous round of applause.
Mr. Byrne shared his enthusiasm for the implementation of a new video board for the south end of the Arizona Stadium and described its many almost magical abilities. He also spoke about monitoring of student athletes’ class attendance, completed construction of men’s basketball locker room and the beginning stages of a north end zone football facility.
Jo Ann Ellison, our program chairman, dressed in her red Wildcat shirt, and presented to Mr. Byrne a plaque from the club showing its appreciation.
Mrs. Marilyn Moore, the chairman for the club’s Community Service Project, reported her committee is again participating in the annual school supplies drive for Oracle Elementary School District No. 2.
This year’s committee launched the project with a little humor by announcing a special back-to-school fashion show featuring Rotarians. In true runway form, committee members Mary Ann Casebolt, Joe Dylewski, Al Trice and myself paraded through the meeting room.
In service project fashion, we each carried a selection of school supplies, illustrating the most important focus of being prepared for the school year! The fashion show jump-started the collecting of donations from members with a value of more than $400.
The club’s 14th annual “Fore for Kids” Charity Gold Tournament will be held on Friday, Nov. 4 at the Mountain View Golf Club in SaddleBrooke. All proceeds will benefit youth charities in Pima and Pinal counties.
Chairman Andrew Gregory welcomes calls for more information at 818-0088 about golfing in the tournament or donating prizes
